Golden Acorn Awards 2021-22Outstanding Educator Award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions in their community to enhance the educational outcomes of all children or youth. This year’s Outstanding Educator Award is presented to,
Anja Mancano - Ms.Mancano contributed to the school's green team activities by leading gardening activities, teaching workshop on water conservation, and coaching student helpers during lunch time for the recycling/composting program. She developed a positive relationship with students in her small groups by establishing routines, providing guidance, encouragement, and challenging students to excel. Made sure lunch helper parents felt welcomed and showed them how to work with students to help them be aware of the recycling/composting program and went above and beyond her lunch supervisor/recess teacher duties to teach, support and guide students on how to properly dispose of lunch leftovers in the bins. Ms. Mancano has uplifted Audubon's green team and the school's mission to sustainability. She not only gave her time but also scaled up her impact by inspiring students, parents, and the greater community.
Thank you Ms.Mancano for your outstanding contribution as an educator!
Outstanding Community Service is presented to a community volunteer in recognition of her/his dedication and service to children and youth. This year we have multiple recipients for this award. Congratulations to both the winners!

Earth Day Celebrations
Audubon students celebrated Earth Day on Friday by wearing color blue and green to represent the ocean and trees respectively.
The Green Team along with other volunteers also worked in the garden with Mrs. Mancano spreading soil in the flower beds. And lastly, the Green Team helped throw away expired emergency food in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner by placing the food in the food scraps bin.
How did you celebrate Earth Day?

Message from International Event Organizers - Missing Art Work
Please help us find artwork that was taken from hosting tables at the International Festival. One is a glass paperweight that was placed on the top of the coloring pages (see the pictures 1&2). It was taken from the Brazilian table.
From Chinese table two things are missing, a yellow wooden fan and a mask (see the picture#3 - both items are marked).
Please ask your child, maybe they took it by mistake. Also please spread the word among your friends who attended the festival. If you find it, you can leave it at the school office.
Please help us return the artwork to the owners. Thank you!

Message from School - Lost & Found Items Procedure
|
Missing or forgetting items at school is a common problem for us all! Audubon's staff goes the extra mile to help us locate such items. The items are placed in the below-mentioned locations for students or parents to collect. Labeling your child's belongings with a first and last name surely helps locate the owner sooner!
Location 1 - hallway leading to the gym, lunch and music room
Location 2 - occasionally outside at recess, before and after school
Please see the above picture for this week's lost items. If you see one of your items or have lost a specific item, contact anmancano@lwsd.org
Any item not claimed by the end of the school year will be donated to a local charity. |
